May 19, 2019 - OPFC 120 Year Dinner @Leyton Orient

It was a great night for the club on Friday as 180 Old Parmiterians attended the dinner with some very old faces and the younger School team playing on the Leyton Orient Pitch. Bob Bevan gave a superb speech and he was supported by Paul Mitchell, Brian Robinson and Dave Cross. Apr 21, 2019 - R.I.P. Del Humphries

It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of one our OPs, Del Humphries. Brian Robinson our President relates: Del and I joined Parmiters in 1950 along with Don Smith, Alan Burns, and Toby Evans. After we left school, whenever we met, we always drank a toast to "55". National Service separated us but we stayed in touch. In 1961 at the age of 21 Del,Don and I got into the OP 1st team that achieved great things. Del went off to work in Fleet St. and we shared a great love of horse racing so it was no surprise that his nickname became 'Arkle' after the famous grey steeple chaser.. Details of the funeral: Del Arkle Humphries funeral will take place on: Thursday 9th May at 1.30 pm. at Forest Park Crematorium, Forest Road, Ilford, IG6 3HP. The Wake afterwards will be held at The Carpenter's Arms, Smarts Lane, Loughton. All are invited. Arkle loved flowers so they can be sent or taken to the funeral.

Apr 3, 2019 - OPFC 120 Year Celebration Dinner

The Club is celebrating its 120th season and holding the event at Leyton Orient FC on Friday 17 May. There will be 2 games on the pitch at the Os followed by a Dinner and presentations. Guest speaker is Bob "The Cat" Bevan who will no doubt entertain everyone. Also in attendance will be the Head Teacher Michael Jones and the School 1st team who will be playing an OP X1. Apr 3, 2019 - 7th X1 Cruise to easy cup win

The 7ths came out on top in the inter club Old Boys cup final against our 8ths. The early exchanges were not a signal of what was to follow as the 8ths missed clear cut chances that could have made this a much closer game. Congratulations to Ugo and his team and commiserations to Dean whose team fought till the end despite the scoreline.

We are playing a game to honour the memory of Barrie Williams, OP and manager of Sutton Utd and OPFC 1st X1. The game will be played at Douglas Eyre Sports Centre on Saturday 28 July KO 2.00pm between our 1st team and Sutton Utd under 21s. All supporters, friends and family are welcome. There wil be a bar and and a buffet available for all.

Jun 18, 2018 - Trials Day Saturday 30 June from 10.00am

If you are looking to play football this season at a standard that suits you, come over to the Douglas Eyre Sports centre this Saturday, 30 June. Starts at 10.00am on a 3G surface we will hold trials to look at new players for the new season. It will be a series of drills in different ability groups with matches after lunch. We are looking for ghood quality players for the 1st team, which is step 7 standard but also for players that can play in our other 9 teams. We are looking for goalkeepers and we are looking for vets players too for our 4 teams. There will be something for everyone.

Apr 24, 2018 - R.I.P Barrie Williams

This Monday saw the passing of a true OP legend. Barrie joined as Manager of the First X1 in the early 90’s ,having had considerable success at a higher level, particularly the Sutton Utd win against Coventry City in the FA Cup in 1989. This remains one of the biggest FA cup shocks. Barrie had 5 seasons with the OP’s which culminated in the 1st X1’s highest achievement in its history ,by winning the SAL Senior Division in 1996/7. It was even more of a success as it was their first season in the Senior Division and the team average age was 33 ! The photo of that team has Barrie far right. All who played under Barrie would agree he was the reason we all worked for each other to achieve success and played such a huge part in our footballing lives. Never forgotten. Mar 27, 2018 - 8th X1 win the OB Cup after late scare

Congratulations to our 8th team after they overcame Suttonians in the final 3-2. 2-0 up and cruising, Suttonians staged a late comeback to draw 2-2 with 5 minutes to go and extra time looking likely. Up steps Liam Greenaway to pop in the winner in the last minute to start the celebrations. Well done Ugo for managing the team to this success as all those training nights paid off with silverware.

Mar 19, 2018 - 4th team bring home OB Cup for first time

The 4th team after a pretty poor season managed to salvage something in the end. They went across London in snowy conditions to meet Suttonians in the final on a bitterly cold day. They took command early on and a couple of goals from Tom Harney gave them a 2-0 half time lead. They held out well in the second half to secure the cup for the 1st time. Well done to Zach and his team for making sure they had something to show for a difficult season.

Mar 21, 2017 - Reserves win OB Invitation Cup

For the 1st time in our history the Reserves won the Old Boys Junior Cup after a late equaliser from George Wadhams forced extra time and then Sami Bekir slotted in a winner to seal a great win for the team. Colin Staines maintained his 100% record in OB cup finals as his depleted side worked hard for this win.

Sep 13, 2016 - Veteran Visitors from Italy come to E17

An Italian Vets team travelled from Jesi in central Italy for a friendly against our over 45s at Douglas Eyre last Saturday. It was a good game of football from both sides but the Italian silky skills and passing was too much for us. Nonetheless it was a great show of friendship and we hope to return the compliment by taking a team to Italy at the end of our season.

May 15, 2016 - 1st Team end the season in style

The 1st team beat premier League Champions Hamptonians 1-0 in a well contested LOB Senior Cup Final. A goal from leading goalscorer Dave Stevens was enough to take their second cup of the season. Winning their last game 9-0 against Aloysians in the league we only secured runners up spot to Wokingians being undefeated in the league and losing just once in the whole season. It was a superb performance from the whole squad. Manager Peter Omondi and Coach Lee Okugbeni played a major part in turning the fortunes of the 1st team around after relegation last season. We look forward to next season with relish.

I have to report the sad news that one our Old Parmiterians Stalwarts, Arthur Linton passed away yesterday morning after a long battle with cancer. He was a very popular and jovial character always having a joke or a laugh especially before and after games. He was a great person to be around and will be sorely missed by those who knew him and especially those who played with him. Funeral arrangements can be obtained from me or Brian Robinson. Apr 25, 2016 - 1st X1 win Old Boys Senior Cup

After a wait of nearly 6 years the 1st team found their way through a tough game with Parkonians to win the Cup 3-2 with the winning goal from James Hudson coming 10 minutes from time. In the end it was a well deserved win and cheered the OP Society supporters who braved the cold to be there. Well done to the whole sqaud and Peter and Lee who run the team to turn around the fortunes after relegation last season. The team is also promoted back to the Premier Division and now looks forward to battles to win the championship and The LOB Senior Cup on 11 May when they play Old Hamptonians at Dulwich Hamlet FC

The LOB Cup Final fell foul of Fridays rain with Pitch 1 being flooded such that the Ducks managed to get some exercise from the conditions!

Mar 9, 2016 - 6th X1 retain AFA Cup

Aaron Spencer and his 6th team repeated the feat of last year by again beating Civil Service 5-3 aet in another nailbiting game. The team had to comeback twice and again Civil Service equalised in the last minute of normal time as they did last year but this time we prevailed 5-3 in extra time. Well done to the whole squad on a great performance. The 3rds were a shade unlucky against Winchmore Hill in their AFA final having chances to take the lead. Despite the defeat it was an historic achievement to reachthis AFA final for the first time. So again a well done to Dan and his squad.

Feb 23, 2016 - 1st X1 Look to two cup finals

The 1sts reached their second final of the season with a 2-0 win over Wokingians in the LOB Senior Cup. They will meet Hamptonians at a venue and date to be decided but it will be midweek under lights. The Old Boys Invitation Final will be against local rivals Parkonians on Sat 23 April at Fords Sports Club, Newbury Park, home to Old Esthamians. Supporters will be very welcome.

Jan 20, 2016 - 1st Team reach Old Boys Cup final

After a wait of 6 years the 1st team finally made it to a cup final with a hard fought 4-3 win over Old Minchendenians. Behind 3 times we came back to take the tie and play in the final against either Old Parkonians or Old Owens

I will still order the club kit but you can order your own kit and training gear individually without my intervention. They will also supply the club badge on most items. Apr 12, 2015 - Senior Vets bring home 5th cup

Paul Mitchell and his team managed to bring back a 5th trophy for the club in the shape of their Over 45s League Cup. It was the first League Cup win for the club despite being in many finals since 2004 when we joined the Essex Vets League. Congratulations to Paul Mitchell and his team. They are still in the hunt for the League and VFA Cup.

Over the weekend of 11-12 May England Over 50s won 10 out of 11 games to get runners up spot having beaten eventual winners Barcelona. OP players were John Day, Andy Gombas & Paul Mitchell.

May 17, 2013 - 4 Vets Players play for England in Millenium Stadium Cardiff

John Day, John Cowen, Ian Greenwood and Paul Mitchell played for England Over 50s Vets against Wales on Tuesday in the Millenium Stadium. Although we lost I am sure it was a great experience for all involved.
