The news of Billy Brooks passing is a big blow to all who knew him. His career with the OPFC covered the full range from the 1st XI through through the ranks in later years, eventually with his captaining the 5th XI to what was for him the holy grail of winning the AFA Cup after many near misses. He had a very good knowledge of how the game was played and was always prepared to put his ideas forward. Socially he was great to be around and I have many memories of evenings in the clubhouse with him. He will be very sadly missed.
