Good Performance & Undeserved Defeat

This season will come good and, yesterday, I saw more evidence as to why I'm confident of that. Against a Suttonians team that have won all but one fixture, Parmiterians created chances and played attractive attacking football; all of this, yet again, without a recognised striker. Parms were organised, tight and efficient; communication was outstanding, with C.Akinrele leading by example at RB. G.Bloom & L.Wallace linked up superbly to create chances down the left wing, & Parms just needed more bodies in the box to convert these opportunities. S.Lewis controlled the midfield and dictated play, but still worked hard to support his defence; this effort and team ethos was clear to see from all eleven players. E.Macaulay & O.Blackman broke up play and worked tirelessly in the heart of midfield, both putting in excellent performances. The 0-0 scoreline at half time soon changed in Parmiterians' favour, when Blackman capped a quality performance with a clinical header. After 75 minutes, Parms were still leading, but nerves caused the players to stop doing some of the basics and this changed the momentum in favour of Suttonians. An undeserved, and clearly off-side, equaliser gave the home side the confidence they needed and then, moments later, a second yellow for Akinrele meant Parms were down to ten men. This was very harsh treatment for a player who had been so positive and committed throughout. This advantage gave Suttonians the space they had not been afforded and they scored a quick, soft second whilst the Parms' heads were down. What is not down, however, is the team spirit in this side, which is exceptional. Every player present is fully committed to getting this team to where it deserves to be. With a core of good players, those set to return from injury & the knowledge that just one win will move us to 6th in the table, the confidence and determination is clear to see.
