Battled well for 60 minutes
Against one of the divisions top sides the IVs started well. Playing a compact 442 and counter attacking football the IVs took a well deserved lead when Conor poached onto a poorly defended freekick with a neat finish round the keeper. However, after 35 mins the scores were level following a worldy from one of the Parkview centremids which left Samuel clutching at thin air. The game changed on the goal and Parkview really took the game to IVs. OP were leggy and right on halftime shipped a goal having failed to clear their lines properly. It was a bitter pill to swallow but the team came out renewed in the second half. Within 10 minutes of the restart the scores were level. Not to be outdone by Parkviews goal of the day, Denzel beats a man, comes inside onto his left foot and then curls a beauty from 25+ yards into the top left corner. The elation was short lived though as in under 5 minutes the Parkview lead was restored when a counter attack was not headed clear and with the ball at his feet and the goal gaping the Parkview striker just about managed to beat keeper and defender on the line. The final 30 minutes OPIV offered little. The injury crisis and lack of pre-season told and the boys just weren't fit enough to maintain the high levels of performance a team like Parkview demand of you. It was a great effort and the final score did not reflect the overall performance of the lads. There were positives to take from the game and lessons to be learned from such a high calibre of opposition.
