Battled well to the final whistle
Events did not start according to plan for the 8th team-Charlie was clearly disappointed at being snubbed for the goalkeeper role and was overheard saying 'this wouldn't happen in Ryman'. Team manager and Arsene Wenger lookalike Merritt decided that enough was enough and started veteran keeper Roger in goal, and included the new signing Lukas in the starting 11. The team was once again playing in front of a sell out crowd made up of their loyal fanbase(Jordan's Mum).Things started well in the first half for the team and they were unlucky to concede an early goal. The response was almost immediate-dogged play from lightning quick striker and drunkard Abdi allowed Jordan to skillfully score the first goal for the eighths. Despite a great first half display from Felipe and Lukas, the team went into half time 2 - 1 down. Some sage-like advice from Emir and Dave at the interval gave the team a fighting spirit going into the second half.Merritt substituted Abdi for Charlie going into the second period, which turned out to be the masterstroke in the come back for the 8ths. A pinpoint cross supplied from Dave found the head of Charlie, who headered the ball goalwards to score a sensational equaliser. Pundits and spectators alike where heard saying 'that goal was Ryman level'.Once the ball was fished out of the opposition net, the 8th team set about winning the game. Superb link up play from Romario once again put Jordan into a goal scoring position, and he retained his composure to score his 2nd goal of the game. Great defensive play from Tony,Merritt and Ahmed,as well as disciplined work from the midfield allowed the team to kill the game off in the remaining minutes.Controversy after the game marred a great team display-Abdi was seen smashing up the club bar,and Ahmed did not help matters by comparing Dave to the legendary Spanish midfield Xavi. Dave's ego might be so big that he has no spare room in his car to take players to away games
