Under par but optimistic
A game we could and should have won. We started off quicker than we normally do, and deservedly went in front in the 18th minute albeit from a rather fortuitous penalty, slotted home by Beds. A few minutes later a more clear cut shout was denied with a remark "I've already given you one penalty". We were going along quite well but having to do it the hard way as we were getting nothing from the referee. After about half an hour a loose ball on the edge of our area was met with a once in a lifetime shot that flew into the top corner of the net. After that the game slowly deteriorated from our point of view. There were some good moments and encouragingly we are still managing to create chances and pretty soon our luck will change and they will start flying in. Once again the players worked hard but as of yet things are not running too smoothly, and this match in particular was extremely difficult against opposition who were allowed to get away with blue murder and took full advantage. The second half produced a stonewall penalty that even our man in black couldn't deny and was coolly despatched again by Beds, only for the ref to rule it out for encroachment. The subsequent re-take was saved by their keeper and we finally went down 3-1. I could have made the whole report about a certain gentleman but it would only sound like sour grapes and will conclude by saying that I have every faith in my boys to turn our league campaign around.
