Good showing despite missing players

Parms were disappointed to lose a game they controlled, but can take a lot of positives from their performance. Starting the game, and playing the first hour, with ten men did not prevent the home side from being by far the better team, dictating play and having some guilt edged chances to take a decent lead. With only six regular reserve team players available, and some lads playing out of position, it was an outstanding performance. B.Dushku was immense in CM, with Joel always a handful for the Parkonians back four. Ash was a constant problem for the opposition down the right flank, fitting into the team effortlessly. At half-time it was 1-1, Dushku powerfully heading home a well-placed free kick by E.Malaveci. The second half was more of an even affair, with some of the Parms players tiring, but the two goals conceded were sloppy and down purely to poor marking from set pieces...something to work on at training. E.McWilliams launched a pin point ball over the heads of the Parkonians players, which Dushku controlled and finished with aplomb to earn his brace. A.Bensley was in great form - playing with complete confidence, commanding his area and pulling off some top draw saves. B.Hammond slotted in superbly at CB, winning the aerial battles and finishing the match in spite of carrying an injury, whilst E.Macaulay played his usual holding midfield role perfectly. Clubman of the day goes, without question, to Theepan Nathan for bringing over four players, without whom, Parms would have been unable to field a side. It was great being back – the banter, atmosphere and motivation for the season clear to see from all the boys!
