Tame end to the the season
Here we are again, our final match of the season against O. Manorians in what should have been the title decider. But I'm afraid it turned out to be a deja vu as once again late cry-offs [including a 1 0'clock Saturday lunchtime] was the culmination of the previous 5 weeks fiasco, 4 defeats in 6, and left us in an extremely disappointing 4th place. It could have been worse, but for the fact that thanks to Carl who came to watch, and hadn't played for 6 months due to an operation meant we were able to start with 11 men. The match itself in the first half was no great shakes, but the boys matched the opposition for effort only for two pieces of bad luck saw us fall behind with two deflections after Jay had both shots covered. We continued to battle and were rewarded when Mikey broke clear and slotted a fine shot in to the far corner. Second half we seemed to fall back in to our shell for a bit and fell further behind. Then as expected with these boys, instead of their heads dropping, it actually spurred them on, only to reduce the margin once more with a fine shot by Mooro the Mighty. Unfortunately with the effort of trying to get back on level terms and one or two players feeling it, we inevitably got caught twice on the break and fell to a score line that didn't actually tell the true story of the match. Even the late introduction of Paddy Kelly couldn't produce any more goals against the league winners. The shame of it is the fact that the team are more than capable of winning a league title but it will mean that it takes more than just the hard core to turn up every week. Hopefully we can put a squad together next season that will show that commitment and turn promise in to reality. Once again lads, I'd like to say a big thank you for all the hard work you have put in on the playing side, and with training night producing bigger numbers let's hope that 2014/15 will finally produce what we all want, to bring a league tit
