Top of the table!
After weeks of chasing the top, another dominating win finally gets us to the top of the table! The 8ths didn't start with their best football on the hard bobbly pitch but broke the deadlock after a near post corner by Harry Sach was flicked in by Francis Conlan. The 2nd goal was again assisted by Harry. The 8ths won the ball high up the pitch and Harry drilled the ball across to Francis & Juan who were making the run in behind. The ball was just to quick for Francis but Juan picked it up and fired a shot at goal which had the Davenant keeper scrambling, the shot just had enough on it and finished in the bottom corner. The 8ths added 3 more goals in the first half with Francis adding 2 getting his hattrick with 2 tidy finishes inside the box. Ryan Franklin got his first of the game with a left footed finish in to the top corner ending the first half with the 8ths 5.0 up. In the 2nd half the 8ths added 2 more goals and looked comfortable without playing their best football. Ryan added his 2nd of the game with a finish in to the bottom corner from just inside the box and Joe Nelson kept his goal scoring form up, tucking away a lose ball after really good work from Mike Diebelius. The game ended 7.0 and the 8ths went to the top of the table! Man of the Match this week is Francis Conlan for his 1st half hattrick (see below). Well done everyone, 2 more wins in our last 3 games will win us the league!
