Parms’ stuttering finish towards the finish line continued in Enfield on Saturday as they initially fought back from 3-0 down only to relinquish parity again. A late formation change, due to missing players, seemed to unsettle the visitors and an avoidable opener was struck home after some poor defending all round. Ignation’s then scored a second with Parms claiming offside as the ball was played through to a winger who then cut the ball back to be finished. A change of formation then seemed to bring the visitors into the game, but not before another disputed goal put the hosts 3-0 up. Finally Parms began to play with more confidence and after immense pressure from a corner, which having been knocked back in was almost finished by Mike Morgan, before Luke Moore found Chris Staines who beat the offside trap to finish and bring his side back into the contest. After half time Parms really picked up the pace and saw a few efforts go close before a shot from substitute Chris Scherer was judged to have been handled by an Ignations defender. Dan Hall stepped up to dispatch the resulting penalty into the bottom corner as the pressure mounted on the hosts. It wasn’t long before that pressure told and a cross from Luke Moore was clearly handled leading to a second penalty which saw Hall calmly slot it in the same corner as the mountain Parms had set for themselves looked to have been climbed. A superb through ball from Adem Bekir then released Sean Dardis whose goal bound effort was cleared off the line, which really would have turned the game on its head. It was then that the controversy finally saw tempers boil over in the direction of the referee, as a corner was cleared and Parms stepped up, an Ignations midfielder knocked the ball back in for another to send a looping header over Jaymie Reynolds to put them in the lead again. With the visitors chasing the game it began to become stretched, with opportunities spurned by both, but the result remained.
