Midweek win keeps League challenge on track!

The 8ths started off their 2 midweek games with a solid 3.0 over Enfield Old Grammarians. With manager Emir & keeper Ben Davidson stuck in traffic, the 8ths began the 1st half with Joe Massingham in goal and Juan Tenerio at left back for the first 25 minutes of the game. The opening goal of the game came after good work from Francis Conlan. His effort from the edge of the box could only be parried out by the Enfield keeper and Joe Nelson was the quickest to react to slot in to make it 1.0. In the 2nd half the 8ths continued to look comfortable defending their lead and added 2 more goals towards the end of the game. The 2nd goal came from a good ball in the box which was knocked across goal to the back post where Juan Tenerio was there to turn in right footed to make it 2.0. The final goal of the game came from Harry Sach. The 8ths earned a freekick out side the box on the right and Harry stepped up to take. His dangerous ball in the box managed to beat everyone plus the keeper and drifted in to the top corner making it 3.0. The game ended and the 8ths continued their good form and push for the title! Special mentions have to go to Ben, Harry, Terry & Richard. Its not easy coming to midweek games when your working but they all made the effort coming straight from work and all contributed to the win. Another mention has to go to Joe Massingham who went in goal for the first 25 minutes and kept a clean sheet. Ciaran Foster in DM and also captain had a great game along with the back four of Archie, Richard, Sonny and Joe.M/Juan who looked solid throughout. And finally Man of the Match Francis Conlan who had a really good game playing all across the 3 behind Ryan and played a big part in the opening goal. Well done everyone!
