3 out 3! Great game and last minute winner!
The 8ths made it 3 out of 3 in the cups with the most exciting game of the season. The 1st half was a bit of a battle with Old Eds starting strongly. Old Eds pressed hard forcing the 8ths in to some mistakes and stopping them playing there normal passing football. Old Parms settled in to the game as the half went on but there was not many chances in the first half. Both defences held strong to keep it 0.0 at half time. After a decent start by both sides in the 2nd half, Old Eds were the first to get a break through and went 1.0 up after a back post header from a good corner. After this the 8ths pushed for the equaliser and got a goal back through good work by Ciaran & Francis. A couple of quick passes put Ciaran through on the right who put a dangerous low ball in which the Old Eds defender turned in to his own net. 1.1! The 8ths pushed on to get a 2nd and Ryan got put through on goal. The keeper came rushing out and Ryan knocked the ball round him forcing himself to a tight angle on the left hand side, but Ryan kept composed and cut back on to his right foot and smashed it between the keeper and post making it 2.1. With 15 minutes to go Old Eds pushed for a late equaliser with long balls in trying to force a mistake. With 7/8 minutes to go they got there reward after the Old Eds forward emerged with the ball after a 50/50 challenge and lifted it over the rushing keeper Ben making it 2.2. Old Eds were on a high after their late equaliser but the 8ths kept them under control and in the 93rd minute got one more chance to win the game. After an Old Eds goal kick the ball was won back by Old Parms and played to Ryan who put Francis through on the left hand side, Francis cut back on to his right foot and put a ball in which deflected off a couple players and keeper and dropped to Harry who launched himself to get the slightest touch to force in making it 3.2!
