Commanding performance with just 11

After the frustration of recent results at home for Parms perhaps an away day was exactly what the doctor ordered, and so it proved as they travelled to Enfield to take on Old Gramms. Injuries and absentees forced Colin Staines to shuffle his pack and field young full back Sam Barker in a back 3 alongside skipper Gary Kirby and Brendan Kelly that looked a gamble before kick-off. It looked to be a master stroke afterwards, as a solid performance left Jaymie Reynolds idle in goal and a debate over a man of the match award given the responsibility each player took to their respective tasks. Sean Dardis in his third start since returning was in ambitious mood, shooting from all angles. However, his first significant contribution was as provider to Michael Morgan, sliding a pass between the centre backs which Morgan finished calmly to stamp Parms’ dominance on proceedings. Dardis was at the centre of the action again, firstly winning a free-kick for flicking the ball onto an Old Gramms’s defenders hand, then delivering onto Adem Bekir’s head who finished with aplomb. Bekir, his brother Sami Bekir, Morgan and Luke Bedson interchanged passes in the middle, with the hosts chasing shadows. A second half show of solidity proved the base for more good attacking play, but also stemmed a minor fight back from the home team, who probed the visitors for any weaknesses to no avail. The game was then settled when Mooro played Dardis in whose assured finish is something Colin Staines has been happy to call on again in these closing games. With another 3 points on the board and another away game mid week on Wednesday, this was a vital victory on the road. Staines was full of praise for his team after the game saying “I couldn’t pick one of them for M.O.M today, they all took responsibility today and gave everything to get the points.”
