Same result different cup!!
Well done again to everyone who took played on Saturday and took part on this cup run! . After the AFA Cup final win v Old Parkonians 2 weeks ago you could tell Old Parks came with the game plan to stop the 8ths from playing. Old Parks put in a lot of challenges and gave away a lot of freekicks to try frustrate Parms, but the 8ths kept their heads and stuck to playing their football. The 8ths finally got the breakthrough they deserved after about the 10th corner of the first half. The big Aussie CB Richard Jackson coming up for the corner made his trademark near post run to Harry Sachs cross and turned it in left footed to make it 1.0! (See picture below). After a couple of missed chances the 8ths got their 2nd goal through an Old Parks defensive error. The ball was played long into the box and the Parkonian defenders headed clearance came back off his teammate and in to the path of Ryan Franklin, Ryan took one touch before slotting it in left footed to make it 2.0. The 2nd half ended just after captain Terry Blue turned in to Hulk for the first time this season. Old Parkonians knew they couldn’t play their way through the 8ths and started to put in a lot of heavy challenges. The 2nd half continued like this with Old Parks trying to frustrate the 8ths but the 8ths kept their heads and looked comfortable. Parms had a late penalty to make it 3.0 saved but that didn’t spoil an overall great performance by the team. The game ended 2.0 and Old Parms got their 2nd trophy of the season and revenge on Old Parks for last year’s final loss. Ben, Ciaran, Sonny, Richard, Joe M, Elliott, Terry, Mike, Harry, George, Ryan, Juan, Archie, Francis, Joe N and Andy. You have all played a part in this cup run so thank you and well done!
