Battle to reach 3rd final
It was a tough game for the 8ths but they managed to hold on for the win and reach their 3rd final of the season. The first half started off scrappy, the 8ths had more possession but there was not many clear cut chances for either side. The breakthrough come in the 2nd half when Man of the Match (voted by Joes little bro) Elliot Joseph picked up the ball on the halfway line and spotted Harry Sachs run from the left. Ell played the ball through the two defenders setting Harry free to finish first time, coolly slotting past the rushing keeper. 1.0. Old Kings then equalised against the run of play with a goal which looked offside but credit to the Old Kings forward it was finished well. The 8ths quickly regained the lead when Francis Conlan who just came on before the equaliser picked up the ball outside the box and drilled a quality strike into the bottom corner making it 2.1. With about 10 minutes to go the 8ths got a freekick left of the penalty area. Harry Sach went for goal and his strike dipped and bounced in front of the keeper who could only push it out to George Maskell to slot in making it 3.1. The 8ths eased up in the last 5 minutes and conceded another goal which again looked offside but was finished well by the Old Kings forward, clipping the underside of the crossbar. The final whistle blew and the 8ths won 3.2 reaching a 3rd cup final! Well done again to everyone who played and bring on our first final this Saturday!
