5 Star Performance from the 5th Team

To put this into context, we lost 3-1 in the reverse fixture. The level of performance today was the best seen so far this season, with 2 contenders for goal of the season. The game started off with Old Parms looking threatening, breaking behind Tollingtonians' back line on a number of occasions. However it was a fantastic 30 yard strike from Shaun which dipped and swerved into the top right hand corner to put us 1-0 up. A second goal followed a few minutes later, a short corner taken to Felipe, who whipped a ball in which evaded everyone and drifted straight into the bottom corner. The first half ended with Old Parms knocking the ball around and carving the home team open at will. We continued to play great football and Old Tollingtonians were struggling to get out of their half. And the third goal came from a ball over the top, with Shaun taking on the last defender and finishing clinically from the edge of the box. Sloppy play led to us over-playing among the back 4, which allowed the home team to nick an undeserved goal. However the next goal finished off the game and it was a peach of a strike from Ricky Speed. Collecting the ball from Brighton, he played the ball into Walid. Walid lifted the ball back into Ricky's path, and then Ricky struck the ball on the half volley and gave the keeper no chance. A stunning strike from one of the player's of the season. And the game was finished off with some great play on the counter. Debutant Daniel ran from the halfway line, taking on the full back and cutting the ball back into Kennerly's path, who finished from inside the 6 yard box, making it 2 goals in 2 games. It ended 5-1 but it could have been more. A great performance from the team and still unbeaten in 2014. A lot of hard work and a great defensive performance, making a good team look average. Quarter-final up next and this team will take some stopping.
