Through to another Semi!

What a great performance in the 2nd half to take the 8ths through to the AFA cup semi final! The 8ths started strongly in the 1st half and opened the scoring early when Ryan Franklin rose up higher then everyone for Harry Sachs corner and flicked a Hernandez style backwards header in to the back of the net. 1.0 up the 8ths pushed on for a 2nd, but a slight error at the back got Old Meadonians an equaliser, the 8ths had a warning just before when Meadonians again broke through and forced Ben Davidson in to a good save tipping over the bar. The 1st half ended 1.1 but the 8ths were on top throughout and the constant pressure paid off in the 2nd half. The 8ths regained the lead when Harry Sach broke through on the right and crossed the ball towards the back post where the Old Meadonians defender running back towards his goal could only turn it into his own net. The 3rd goal came from really good build up play between Ryan Franklin, Harry Sach & George Maskell, their quick passing around the box put Harry Sach through who calmly slotted it past the keeper left footed into the bottom corner. The 4th goal came from another corner this time from right, the ball coming in was powered in by Sonny Baldwin who was solid throughout at the back and got a deserved goal. Finally the 5th goal and the probably the finish of the game came from Man of the Match George Maskell. The ball was curled in from the right by Mike Diebelius who returned from injury after 8 weeks out and George Maskell volleyed past the keeper who didn't even move. Well done to everyone yesterday, played really good stuff especially in the 2nd half after 5 weeks out and through to another semi final!
