Good point at league leaders
OPFC 6ths came into the game on the back of a five match winning streak and were confident they could get a result away at league leaders Oakhill Tigers to move up the league table, with a game in hand on the teams around them. Tigers started the brightest and created a number of chances in the first half due to some defensive lapses from Parms, George Le-Beau, deputising in goal today, made a string of superb saves to keep the scores level. Parms took the lead against the run of play midway through the half from a fine lobbed finish, Charlie Heath racing onto a lofted through ball from Shafik Shakur and calmly side-footing over the keeper from the angle. Zach made a tactical switch from 3-5-2 to 4-4-2 to shore up the defence. Soon after, the birthday boy himself netted to make it 2-0, and it really was a gift. After some excellent interplay on the right between Cai and Liban the ball was drilled across for an easy tap-in for Pearson arriving at the back post. In the second half, Tigers came out aggressively and started to dominate proceedings. They clawed back to 2-1, and then got an equaliser late on through their mammoth substitute striker thundering a header in off the crossbar. But for some stoic defending and further saves from Le-Beau, Parms may have lost all three points; the work-rate dropping off drastically and allowing Tigers the run of the middle of the park. We held on for a decent away point though and continue our unbeaten run. Must work harder next week.
