Top quality performance
After the huge disappointment of exiting the A.F.A. Cup the week before I couldn't have had a better response from the 11 players who showed up at Donkey Lane. Rallying his troops Captain Kirby led from the front to our best performance so far. Chris started the ball rolling with a pin-point pass to Sami whose shot was well saved by the keeper but could only palm into the path of Mikey who tapped home. This prompted the start of a commanding first half show when Nat laid a fine pass into Mikey with a 1-2 with Scherer who duly fired home. On the half hour Sami swept the ball out wide to Chris whose excellent cross to Mikey forced a save but the rebound fell to Scherer to knock the ball home. Shortly after the restart a lack of concentration left an opponent free in our box to fire home. A quick reply soon came when Mikey was put through and curled a fine shot past the keeper. Another blip in the 75th minute saw an almost carbon copy goal given away [we'll talk about that]. It wasn't long before we were off again when from out of nowhere Scherer picked up a loose ball 30 yards out and hit a thunderous shot which left the keeper clutching thin air. The match was firmly wrapped up in the 87th minute with a superb tackle by Adem followed by a glorious pass to Mikey who duly slammed the ball home. Thanks to Lloyd for standing in as keeper and the rest of the boys for a fine team performance which hopefully the boys can now power on and give meaning to the rest of the season
