Good performance to progress to next round

What a difference a break can make. After some testing games, a week’s pause in matches left a revitalised Parms purring in the first half as the possession football had Wilsonians chasing shadows. The one drawback was that it was not accompanied by a sufficient cutting edge in a first 45 minutes where the visitors sat deep and crowded the middle of the pitch. After half time Parms possession game was not as fluent as it had been, but chances started appearing and Wilsonians had to scramble an effort off the line to ensure that parity remained. In the end a slice of fortune was needed to break the dead lock, but it was well earned. Chris Scherer broke at pace down the left beating several opponents before feeding the ball to Mike Morgan on the edge of the box. Morgan swivelled and shot towards goal, but quite close to the keeper, who contrived to let it slip beyond him and into the far corner. A just reward for the home team’s dominance. Jaymie Reynolds had to remain alert in goal though, as Wilsonians created their only chance of merit in the game, which Reynolds kept out with his feet. The game began to break down somewhat towards the end and Parms needed another goal to kill the contest. Sami Bekir duly obliged, as Morgan turned provider and set Bekir away, the latter chipped the ball delicately over the ‘keeper to send Parms into the next round. Manager Colin Staines said he was happy of the improvement as he looks for Parms to up their game going into the winter period.
