Match Report

Saturday 14th March

A superb win for the team

I watched our side at Blackmore on a very heavy and bobbly pitch. That could also be said about the Blackmore defence. Having said that our side played well and certainly had the better players on view. Kicking slightly downhill saw us turn round 3-0 up, although in fairness they missed a penalty and with better finishing should have scored a couple. We opened with a well worked goal involving several passes to release Walshy ,who finished well from about 10 yards out. The second was a worldy volley by Richard Boswell. The third was a stonewall penalty , comfortably finished by ageless Kenny Ballard. The second half could have been tricky had Blackmore scored early but apart from a few scary moments, poor finishing and keeping our defensive shape, we in fact went 5-0 up. The fourth was scored from inside our half when their keeper came rushing out to nullify Walshy’s pace and made a hash of the clearance. That said a first time strike from 60 yards is no mean feat by Tony Sibanda ! Our scoring was complete with a close range header by Walshy from a pinpoint Lee Dicker cross. With no time left the Referee, who had an interesting game, decided to give them another and very dubious penalty. A really good performance from a well organised side.
