Saturday 7th March

trialists and injured got a run out

we were grateful to the 7th team for assisting in arranging a friendly that allowed me to rest the bulk of the squad and put on 7 trialists and fringe players including my old self (the manager Lol aka boss). I have to ask the question why our 7 missing starters were not available even though it was a meaningless friendly as a game is a game, but i took the opportunity to look at the rest (fringe/newbees). Anyway we have to commend the 7ths in their preparedness and focus on the game. The boys of the 5ths really have to learn a run out still requires 100% effort. On a bumpy pitch the lad played well in the first half despite an own goal and limited the opposition to long comfortable balls though their wingers threatened a few times. despite only having one striker we should have equalised. In the second half the team took control for 20mins and scored in that time after small adjustments. Changes in the formation had to be made to give the other fringe players games leading to disorganisation and hence the opposition took their vigour and focus and came at us. errors and bad decisions allowed the game to be taken away and really not sure the lads wanted the friendly enough. of course I have to say the 7ths have improved greatly since the cup final we beat them in and that is down to good focus and training. We look forward to meeting them in a competitive game soon it will be excellent competition and well worth the full might and effort of the team as they a good out fit. Anyway back to more important things which are the league the cup final and lessons for the fringe players.
