Winning streak continues

The reserves used one of their games in hand on league leaders Lea Valley to catch up in terms of points and goal difference. Another statement win saw them record their biggest win of the season so far. Bucking the recent trend of giving their opposition an early advantage, the hosts were the ones to break the deadlock early on. Some neat play saw Sami Bekir play Charlie Heath on to the byline, whose cut back was finished first time by Henry Williams. The game strayed out of Old Parmiterians' hands for the next twenty minutes though, as their visitors pressed high to try and win the ball closer to goal. Although the tactic did succeed in interrupting the rhythm of their passing, it meant that Mill Hill's high line left a lot of space in behind. When a pass found Zach Harry between the lines to break the press, his through ball released Josep Mari to run in on goal and double the lead. This broke the visitors' resolve, as a flurry of goals followed. A few minutes later, Williams found Harry on the run who left footed curling finish left he keeper rooted to the spot, two minutes after that Atiba Jackson's through ball again caught the visitors' defensive line too high, as Heath raced through to score. The lesson continued not to be learned, and right on half time goalkeeper Steve Kennedy-Clarke went straight over the top with the defender trying to head back to his keeper under pressure from Heath. Heath tapped the back pass round the keeper and rolled the ball in to have Old Parmiterians five goals to the good by the break. The second half saw some complacency creep in, as a penalty was given away, allowed Mill Hill to claw one back. Again a period of play developed where the visitors were able to press the hosts into mistakes, with possession being turned over by both teams rather cheaply. Williams was then sin binned, meaning that Old Parmiterians had to weather a ten minute spell with a player less. With just over twenty minutes to go Heath completed his hat-trick to settle the nerves again, fed by Harry he raced on through to thump home in signature fashion. Mill Hill were again allowed a goal back, through some slack defending, but another answer came from the hosts. Substitute Mo Camara's shot was well saved, but fellow substitute Adem Bekir followed up to thump home his second goal of the campaign. More loose marking at a corner allowed one free Mill Hill player's wayward volley to fall to another unmarked player to finish, although it never put the result in doubt. Camara was again involved as he delivered a delicious cross that third substitute James White headed in from almost the ground as he had looked to initially lost the flight of the ball, opening his account for the season. It was a goal that meant a positive finish to the game, as Old Parmiterians look to continue their chase of Lea Valley at the top with a trip to Old Marnorians in Wembley next week.
