Game Of Tournament, Wrong End Of The Result

With Levante Las Planas throwing away a two goal lead to draw against San Pancracio, Old Parmiterians could only progress to the third/fourth play-off with a victory in their second game. Again it proved elusive, but unlike their first attempt, the football was far better, at least to start with. The English side took the lead after just 15 seconds, as Scott Moore ran through four players from kick off before squaring the ball to Mike Morgan to open the scoring with a tap in. Parms passed the ball with far more purpose, with Atiba Jackson and Mehdi Krissane both finding the front three quicker, allowing them to use the space in behind better and create more chances on goal. A quick ball played into Scott Moore was superbly flicked on with the outside of his boot as he faced away from goal, playing his brother in behind on the run. Luke Moore then outpaced the Levante defenders before finishing his chance under the goalkeeper's body to stamp Parms' authority on the game. Or so it seemed. Levante started to find joy by pumping long balls in behind the Parms defence, with Graham White coming out once to make a save one-on-one, but shortly after a chance was taken to reduce the deficit. Another quick free-kick was then played inside Brendan Kelly to find the onrushing Levante Full back, who drew his team level. The goal glut continued thereafter as another long ball was played beyond Carl Staines, although in fairness the first touch and lobbed finish from the Levante striker were both exquisite. In just ten minutes the game had been turned on its head. Morgan then volleyed a shot from 35 yards out that looked like it was destined to beat the keeper, only for him to pull off an amazing save. The attempt drew applause from the local crowd, as Morgan had no right to even attempt to shoot from where the ball bounced in front of him. George Wadhams then collected the first of two yellow cards in a tackle born of frustration, which had some added punishment. The Levante player curled a brilliant effort into the top corner to put the game out of Old Parmiterians reach. Soon after Wadhams saw red after he brought down a Levante striker attempting to chase him down as he bore down on goal. There was enough time for man-of-the-match Scott Moore to beat a few players on the left and strike in at the near post to make it 4-3, but there was not enough left in the tank and with only ten men to complete the comeback. Old Parmiterians exited at the group stage, and will be disappointed not to have got a result in both matches.
